Thanks to everyone who was too scared to go into work today, for making my commute easier. You bunch of jessies. Thanks to everyone who worked all night making my commute possible. Good work.
Thanks also to Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick, for saying "Islamic and terrorist are two words that do not go together". As well as being true, this should rile precisely that subset of the population who should be riled.
It may be, though, that "anarchist" and "terrorist" are two words that do go together. I’m not convinced this is the work of Islamists. Although it could well be, of course, there’s just something indefinably odd about this event.
The indefinably odd thing is the lack of a crater in the road in Tavistock Square (or, apparently, equivalent damage underground). Whoever did this doesn’t seem to have had access to Semtex.
‘Scared’ is perhaps the wrong word. ‘Taking the opportunity to spend an enjoyable day working at home’ might be a better description, as I sit here with the cat digging its claws into my knee-caps.
Thanks to yesterday’s disruption, I actually had to come into work today – normally, I spend Fridays working from home – which presumably makes me the exact opposite of a jessie (bunched or otherwise).
But you honestly wouldn’t have realised that anything was wrong, apocalyptic headlines aside.
It may be, though, that "anarchist" and "terrorist" are two words that do go together.
Spot on. Two words spring to mind – ‘congestion charging’.
Of course, I’d get bollocked for saying it was the road lobby, because it’s not PC to point the finger at them. So I’ll say ‘…but it was probably Islamists’ just to cover my arse.
The idiots where I work insisted that only "skeleton" staff should turn up today; there are only 2 of us here in software support instead of the usual 8. But I got in for 8 a.m. catching Victoria Line from Finsbury Park, then Northern to Bank from Euston. Both trains were as full as they usually are at 7.15-7.45, and no visible signs of nervous passengery.
This is the first Friday ever that I’ve been able to get a seat on the Waterloo & City line!
Is Brian Paddick the guy who got all that publicity for being gay? I couldn’t remember and it quite distracted me during the news last night.
He got rather more publicity for his laid-back approach to cannabis in Lambeth, and for his contribution to local online message boards.
Oh, and for being viciously savaged by the Mail on a regular basis, which is a badge of honour in my book.

I had to drive a truck into central London yesterday, and was really surprised how clear the roads were – at least, the way I was going. I came in from Manston airport (near Ramsgate) along the M2/A2/A202. I expected gridlock, but (apart from the usual slows in Peckham) had no real trouble until I hit the police cordons at Victoria.
There was quite a bit of traffic going everywhere else, just not the way I was going.
Yeah, Central Line was a dream. Back to normal next week though, eh, London?
Poofter Paddick is not a real cop.He is just an affirmative action appointment to please London’s AIDS-spreading homosexual kiddie-fiddlers. Religion of peace my resplendent ass.
