Oh all right, then – I won’t.
I still don’t understand this controversy. If Bush had said he was going to remove Saddam then invaded Iraq within a week, then yes, finding no WMD there would be a problem. But he waited (I think) fourteen months. Somewhere around month 2, it was obvious to me that, if there had been WMD in Iraq, there certainly weren’t anymore. We know that, in the first Gulf War, the Iranians looked after a bunch of Saddam’s jets for him to stop the Americans destroying them. It’s hardly unlikely that he’d hide stuff again far less unlikely, in fact, than that he wouldn’t.
If the police say they’re going to search your house for drugs, then keep continuing to warn you of the impending search for over a year before finally searching your house, does anyone intelligent expect them to find anything incriminating? Really?
Might the police also reasonably be expected to actually prove some evidence that you are infact a drug dealer before they arrest you and throw you in jail?
Don’t take the analogy too far, now. It’s war, not police action.
