Just one thing though – it is standard practice to leave all options open for pre-sentence reports, just in case a different judge or bench inposes the eventual sentence. This way their hands are not tied. If you have custody strongly in mind it is usual to warn the defendant.
I have just looked up my sentencing guidelines book and there is nothing in it about firearms because the few cases we do see go straight to Crown Court. If I was a betting man I would say 9 months suspended for two years.
