I’m annoyed by it because I don’t think anyone should be handed lifelong undemocratic political power in return for doing a couple of tours of duty as an MP.
Yes, the annoyance caused by Tonge becoming a Peer to the right people is more than over-compensated for by the fact that for decades to come people of the calibre of Brian Mahwinney and Gillian Shepard will make laws we have to obey.
