What does this "metre bureau" do? Get together now and then to make sure the metre is still running smoothly? Consider ways of improving it? Making it a bit fatter in the middle, say, or giving it a little curve at the end? Making it available in a metallic sheen?

Isn’t it a shameful indictment of our honours system that the contibution of these two Brits continues to go unrewarded, while Mark Thatcher keeps his knighthood?
